law estate wines

graphic designer + photographer    |   2025

Working at Law Estate Wines as the in-house graphic designer, I've had an opportunity to spearhead and design a wide range of creative projects. I am responsible for creating all visual collateral for the brand, ranging from wine labels and bottle packaging to photography campaigns and website design.

wine label

Law has been using the same design for their wine labels since the very first vintage back in 2010. Pictured are the tried and true labels of our wines, which use the line graphics on the right side to reference the vineyard and architecture of the tasting room. When the opportunity to design a new label came about, I was tasked with creating something totally new that still used the visual language of the existing labels.

The Spanish Springs Chardonnay is the first wine that is not crafted from estate-grown fruit, so it requires its own unique label to distinguish this. My concept for the label was to take the original parallel vineyard lines and transform them into something new. I chose to slowly warp these lines into an abstracted shoreline, as the Spanish Springs vineyard when this Chardonnay is harvested from is only a few miles from the coast. This coastal climate is what gives the wine it's distinctive flavor with cool notes of walnut, caramel, and a crisp finish. I sought to communicate these qualities through the effortless ripple of the lines, like a smooth piece of satin draping across the bottle.

I designed this wine 3-pack gift box for Law aficionados as a way to take the tasting room home with them. This collector's item features a detailed line illustration of the tasting room, accentuating the uniqueness of Law's architecture and modern elegance.

The tasting menu silver-foil pie charts that each wine glass of the flight is placed on. The pie chart visually breaks down the different varietals in each of the wines, with different hatchings to illustrate each type. Each texture was chosen specifically to evoke the mouthfeel, weight, and flavor of the varietals, so that the qualities of each wine and differences between them can be visually understood at a glance.  All of the wines that Law produces are also depicted at the bottom of the placemat so guests can understand the full scope of the production.

The release brochure accompanies each member's order of wines released in the fall. I staged, shot, and edited all of the pictures used, which were crafted to reflect different qualities of each of the wines. The black and white theme of the fall release campaign was used to play emphasize the boldness and opulence that this particular vintage of wines was known for.

From the wines overview page, there are spotlights of each individual wine with different pages for each vintage. The photography and styling of each page is dictated by the type of wine and its category in either White Label or Black Label wines.
