Happy Hill Woodworks is a local woodworking company based out of the central coast. My goal was to emphasize the feeling of the central coast, especially Big Sur, through the logo.

inspiration

Above is the inspiration the client sent me. They wanted an outdoorsy, badge style logo that would be optimal for merchandise like hats and t-shirts.

I drew my own inspiration from woodblock prints of Big Sur. The piece on the left is by Californian artist Tom Killion, and on the right is my own interpretation of the landscape.

final logos

The final mark honors the central coast with iconic orange poppies and a Monterey Cyprus tree. I also wanted to play into the personality of the name Happy Hill. On the right is a secondary logotype for more simple applications.
